Design Standards

The ‘Design Standards’ for external alterations to Garden City homes take into account the age and style of properties.

Every property in Letchworth Garden City has been allocated one of three ‘Character Area’ classifications, sympathetic to the original style and / or its location.

The three ‘Character Areas’ are:

• Early Garden City 
• Later Garden City 
• Modern Garden City

Please note if you live on the Jackmans or Grange Estates, these ‘Standards’ may not apply.

Your ‘Character Area’ 

Use the search tool to the right to identify the ‘Character Area’ of your home. 

Enter your postcode, house number and / or street name then press find. Follow the on screen prompts then click on the link directing you to the ‘Design Standards’ for your home.
