They walked, ran, cycled, made cakes, picked apples and sang carols, all in the name of charity, and this week staff at the Heritage Foundation handed over the sum of their efforts to their charity of the year, Macmillan Cancer Support. Staff came together at the Broadway Studio & Gallery on Friday 3 February to handover a cheque for £3,200 following a year of fundraising events and activities across its venues.

Jackie’s Drop In opened the doors at its new premises in Broadway Gardens this week, with DIY SOS’ Billy Byrne joining in the celebrations.Providing adults with disabilities a much needed safe and fun environment, Jackie’s Drop In has been an incredibly valuable resource to the town since 2012. For many it’s the one place outside of their home where they can relax and where their disability doesn’t matter.

The Heritage Foundation has announced the appointment of Graham Fisher as our new Chief Executive.Graham joins the Foundation from the anti-poverty and social reform charity Toynbee Hall, where he has been CEO since 2008. Based in Tower Hamlets, East London, Toynbee Hall provides a range of free services as well as advice and support to some of the UK’s most deprived communities to tackle social injustice.

Our Broadway Cinema & Theatre has announced its inaugural theatre season, which will run from February to May 2017. The town’s much-loved and iconic Art Deco Broadway is now home to a versatile, two-in-one space in the largest of the auditoria, which has been adapted so it can be transformed into a theatre, and back to a cinema overnight.

Letchworth Garden City now has its very own Accessibility Checker thanks to a new partnership between the Heritage Foundation, Letchworth BID, Letchworth Accessibility Advisory Group and DisabledGo.com.This new online Checker is free to use and packed with detailed information about the accessibility of a range of places across the town, including, parks, leisure centres, restaurants, tourist attractions, shops and more.
