Environment and Heritage
The environment and heritage of the garden city is an integral part of what makes Letchworth a unique place to live. We work closely with businesses, community organisations and residents to maintain the estate and to ensure continues to be an excellent place to live and visit.
Our Heritage Advisory Team are available in the Heritage Advisory Centre on Station Road throughout the week to provide advice and guidance to residents looking to make changes to their properties. This expert advice not only helps property owners to make informed decisions but also helps us to maintain the appearance of the garden city under our Scheme of Management.
We also maintain the Garden City Greenway, a 13.6 mile route around the town suitable for walkers, runners, cyclists and more to enjoy. The route also covers a number of local wildlife and nature spots for people to enjoy while on the route, and our landscaping team works throughout the year to maintain these areas for public use. We take part in a wide variety of different activites as part of our commitments to Letchworth’s environment and heritage. More information on some of our recent and current activities can be found below.
