Michael Pisapia

General Governor

Having lived in Letchworth all my life I feel passionate about the town and its ideals and see being a Governor as an opportunity to contribute to its future success.

Letchworth’s location makes it ideal for businesses and with the regeneration of the existing industrial areas it offers an attractive alternative to Cambridge and Stevenage. I believe a lot more could be done to regenerate the town centre. We need to make people come to Letchworth for reasons other than just ‘regular shopping’. Our high street needs to be different and we need to bring people into the town not just during the day but also into the evenings.   All of this must be carefully balanced to ensure we maintain the principles of Letchworth Garden City as laid down by the original founders. We must maintain the conservation area and encourage people to keep within the design guides without people feeling that they are being ‘controlled’ by an organisation that by some is seen as removed from the realities of today’s life.

I have strong UK and International business experience within technology companies which is useful in developing links with local businesses and in promoting Letchworth overseas. I understand the problems businesses face today, especially those in Letchworth, and have the experience to help the Foundation Board.
