As part of Strategy 28, we aim to ensure more people are engaged in a rich and diverse cultural programme, and Letchworth is known for its thriving cultural offer. The work of our Arts, Culture and Heritage team is rooted in connection, creativity, inclusion and community voice.
Across Broadway Gallery, Museum at One Garden City, our accredited Garden City Collection and our Cultural Learning programme, we bring people together through exhibitions, events, workshops, performances and shared creative experiences.

We work in partnership with artists, schools, communities, and local organisations to ensure different voices and experiences shape Letchworth's cultural life.

Our programmes connect the town's unique heritage with contemporary creativity, supporting local talent and creating innovative, inclusive opportunities for people of all ages to engage and contribute.

Together, this work strengthens a shared sense of belonging, celebrates what makes Letchworth so special and helps create a cultural life that remains vibrant, relevant and responsive to its communities.
As a cornerstone of Letchworth’s cultural life, and as we head towards 2028, Culture will work with residents and partners to shape how we come together to celebrate and share our town’s 125-year story.

Visions Exhibition 2026
Broadway Gallery's fourth annual Visions exhibition opened on Wednesday 25th March 2026.
This unique exhibition showcased the artistic talents of Year 12 students from The Highfield School, Fearnhill School, St Christopher School and St Francis College in one of Hertfordshire’s most respected gallery spaces.

Our Role

Cultural Programme Provider
We deliver exhibitions, events, workshops and performances across our venues and in community settings.

Heritage and Collections Steward
We care for and share the Garden City Collection, preserving the town’s heritage and making it accessible for current and future generations.

Supporter of Community Artists
We commission creatives, champion local talent and create opportunities to develop, make and share new work. This commitment to supporting local creativity will also help shape the cultural programme for Letchworth’s 125th anniversary.

Cultural Learning Provider
We work with schools, teachers, artists, children, young people and families to create inclusive opportunities to engage with arts, creativity and heritage.

Funder and Fundraiser
We invest in cultural activity and secure external funding and investment to increase what can be achieved for Letchworth beyond the Foundation’s own resources. We also work with partners to develop projects, strengthen funding opportunities and attract additional investment into the town.

Cornerstone Organisation
We provide strategic leadership and bring together artists, schools, cultural organisations, community groups and other partners to co-create ideas, share expertise and strengthen cultural activity across the town. We work in partnership with a variety of communities to ensure different experiences and perspectives shape our programmes.
Strategic Lead: Sarah Golding
Sarah Golding, Head of Arts, Culture & Heritage“Letchworth’s unique heritage gives us a distinctive starting point for our cultural work. The town was founded on core beliefs relating to shared responsibility, social progress and alternative thought, and those values still maintain their relevance in our community today. Relationships are central to the working process of our team, building connections between artists, schools, community groups, residents and partners. Our programmes seek to unite different experiences, perspectives and ideas, connecting Letchworth’s past with the creativity of the town today and shaping its cultural life for the future.”
