As part of Strategy 28, we aim to improve wellbeing by improving access to nature and the outdoors. Our vision is for the garden city to be a place where the power of nature is harnessed to promote learning, health and caring. Where all life is respected, connected and can flourish together.
To help make this vision a reality, we are working in three key areas...

Learning
We promote curiosity, fascination and respect by providing opportunities for residents and visitors to learn and contribute to learning about nature.

Health
We work in partnership to develop and strengthen opportunities to experience the restorative power of nature and will promote nature connection as a valuable coping strategy at times of stress.

Caring
We promote self-care, community cohesion and nature restoration and by developing and sharing opportunities to give.
Latest Updates
Citizen Science Platform
We are pleased to have launched our new Citizen Science platform, where everyone can contribute and learn about the wildlife around us while helping to safeguard it for future generations.
To add your own stories or contributions to nature in Letchworth Garden City, or to explore contributions from others, please visit the Citizen Science page on Discover Letchworth.

Talks and Workshops
Since launching in February, our programme of nature-connected talks and workshops has supported parents and carers to strengthen their children's connection with nature while developing their own.
“We have been trying to turn our walks into more of an imaginative adventure like we did at the session and they have been more keen to walk." - Participant feedback.
You can find out more about upcoming talks and workshops on Discover Letchworth.

Benches installed along the Greenway
Five benches have been installed along the Greenway as part of the nature connection interpretation project and are already being well used by residents and visitors.
Explore the map to see the locations of these new benches. Each bench is marked with a red icon.

Strategic Lead: Emma Dagless
Emma Dagless, Policy & Programme Manager - Nature & Wellbeing"I am Emma Dagless and I lead the Foundation’s work on Strategic Aim 3: Nature & Wellbeing.
There is strong evidence to show the wellbeing benefits of good quality nature. My starting point is therefore to understand, enhance and champion nature across our town and rural areas. Building on this, I will work to improve information, access and opportunities to engage with nature, for people living in and visiting the town. Please feel welcome to contact me about the progress of our nature and wellbeing work."
