Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation is inviting local residents to help shape the town’s future celebrations by designing the official logo for Letchworth 125 — the 125th anniversary of the world’s first Garden City in 2028.
The winning designer will receive a £500 prize, with their logo becoming part of the town-wide celebrations marking this major milestone in Letchworth’s history.
The competition is open exclusively to Letchworth residents, and entrants are encouraged to create a design that reflects the town’s unique heritage, pioneering spirit and creative future, while staying in keeping with Letchworth’s existing town brand guidelines.
The launch of the competition also forms part of Letchworth’s exciting bid to become the UK’s first ever Town of Culture in 2028.
Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation believes the town is uniquely placed for the title thanks to its internationally significant heritage, thriving cultural scene and strong community spirit. Founded on bold ideas about wellbeing, creativity and community, Letchworth’s influence has shaped towns and cities around the world for more than a century.
Today, more than 300 community, arts, heritage, wellbeing and faith groups contribute to a vibrant year-round cultural programme across the town, alongside major cultural assets including Broadway Gallery, Broadway Cinema & Theatre and the internationally significant Garden City Collection.
As Letchworth approaches its 125th anniversary, the Town of Culture bid aims to celebrate the town’s heritage while investing in a more connected, creative and inclusive future for residents of all ages.
The logo competition gives residents the chance to play a direct role in shaping how the anniversary is represented across events, campaigns and celebrations leading up to 2028.
Designs must be submitted by midnight on Sunday 7th June 2026 as JPG or PDF files only.
Entries should be emailed to response@letchworth.com by the closing date and must include the name, address and telephone number of the artist.
All entries will be reviewed by a judging panel made up of representatives from the local cultural and business community. The panel will assess submissions based on creativity, originality, relevance to Letchworth’s identity and how well the design reflects the spirit of Letchworth 125.
The winner will be selected following this judging process and will be announced at the Garden City Meeting on Wednesday 17th June 2026.
