Local Community Funding

At the heart of this programme is the ambition to support projects that strengthen communities and the sense or feeling of community in Letchworth Garden City. The Local Community Fund aims to fund initiatives that are:

1. Supporting the refurbishment of community buildings and community spaces to enable the provision of community-based activities and events, or improve a specific space or neighbourhood.
2. Encouraging small-scale, short-term projects and/or activities that address needs that have been specifically identified within a neighbourhood or across the town.
3. Encouraging pilot projects or establishing groups that help to address a specific need or challenge within the town, with the ambition of leading to the long-term sustainability of the project/group, either through self-funding, grant funding or a combination of the two.
4. Encouraging events and activities that bring together different groups, communities or geographical neighbourhoods.
5. Sustaining community groups that are contributing to the social fabric of the town and the needs of the group(s) can be clearly evidenced.
