I am a resident of Letchworth Garden City, where my children attend local schools. My connection to this community is important to me. As a trustee of the 8th Letchworth Scout Group, I see at firsthand how recreational activities shape the lives of young people, building resilience, confidence and a sense of belonging. I am also a local authority-nominated governor of Icknield Infant and Nursery School and a former member of the Hertfordshire Police and Crime Commissioner’s Body Worn Video Scrutiny Panel. Across these roles, I have developed a strong commitment to public service, community governance, and civic engagement.
I am passionate about ensuring that Letchworth’s young people, as well as residents of all ages, have access to a rich and varied range of recreational opportunities, and that the organisations which provide those opportunities, from Scout groups and sports clubs to community arts and leisure groups, have a genuine voice in shaping the Foundation’s strategy. I want to champion the recreational sector and help the Foundation strengthen its connections with the grassroots organisations that make Letchworth such a distinctive and vibrant place to live.
Professionally, I am a barrister specialising in commercial litigation, insolvency, international trade and indirect taxation. I am recognised in The Legal 500 and noted by Tolley for my indirect tax expertise. I sit on the Membership Committee of the Chartered Institute of Export and International Trade. Before coming to the Bar, I founded a business in the circular economy (repurposing bulk quantities of computer electronics) and precious metal jewellery industry and worked in the Finance Team within Surrey County Council.
Outside my professional and community roles, I enjoy spending time with my family, riding motorcycles, admiring classic cars, mentoring young entrepreneurs and exploring my interest in onomastics.
