Recreation & Leisure Funding

Recreation and Leisure play a key role in contributing to the health and wellbeing of young people in Letchworth and in making Letchworth a Great Place to Grow up and to live. The purpose of this strand of funding is to provide an avenue for groups who are already or would like to be working with young people in the areas of sport, recreation and leisure.

At the heart of this programme is the ambition to support projects that strengthen the sport, recreation and leisure offer in Letchworth Garden City. The Recreation & Leisure Fund aims to fund initiatives that:

1. Provide high-quality, accessible and inclusive sports, recreation and leisure facilities for residents to participate in sport, recreation and leisure activities.
2. Embed inclusive practices into sport, recreation and leisure activities and programmes through training and development.
3. Build upon existing opportunities for young people of all abilities to engage in high-quality, accessible and inclusive sport, recreation and leisure activities.
4. Expand opportunities for young people to lead sport, leisure and recreational activities, developing life skills, employability skills and qualifications.
5. Foster partnerships between local statutory and voluntary organisations in order to maximise available resources and create the greatest impact.
