Active Letchworth's tips for a healthy 2019

It has been a busy start to the New Year here at Active Letchworth! The lovely Helen has just finished up for maternity leave and Claire and Megan will be covering her role for the next few months while she takes a break to enjoy her new arrival.

January is a time when many of us make new resolutions after an indulgent festive season. Whilst its good to make some positive changes to enjoy a healthy lifestyle, its also important to be realistic about what you can do to fit in with your work and home life to be sure that its something you can stick to!

Here are a few Top Tips to help keep you on track with your resolutions:

1.  Don’t try to do too much!

There is always a temptation to make a huge list of things that you want to do to achieve a healthier and more active lifestyle. That can put a lot of pressure on you and may feel like you have failed if you don’t stick to everything. Try focusing on a small number of changes that are important to you and you will be more focused and

2. Reward your successes!

Set yourself some small goals or milestones to work towards. If you keep on track or achieve a specific target you can treat yourself to something to make you feel like you have made progress and keep you motivated (just try and make it something healthy! ;)

3. Make it fun!

A healthy lifestyle doesn’t have to be dull! Far from it! There are a whole range of things going on in the community that will get you active, meeting new people and challenging yourself in different ways. 4.Tell people about your goals

Friends and family can be very supportive if they know you have a goal in mind. There may be times when you need encouragement so use the people around you to help you on your journey. You may even inspire them to join you in your journey so that you can motivate each other!

5. Don’t give up!

If you revert back to old habits or go off track momentarily, that doesn’t mean you have failed! Set backs are normal and you don’t have to wait for a new day or a new week to get back on track! Look at what you have achieved so far and refocus on your goal!
