Letchworth Garden City is likely to grow over the coming years, and we’ve been having a big conversation with local people about the ways that our town could change.

Between Autumn 2018 until the end of 2018 we began a conversation about what is great about Letchworth, and what we can improve. We sent a newsletter to every home in Letchworth, and held events across the town to ensure everyone had the opportunity provide views. We would like to thank everyone who contributed to the conversation. We are now commencing a second consultation about some of the sites that have been allocated for development in North Hertfordshire District Council’s Local Plan in Letchworth.

Reflecting on the first consultation phase

We received feedback from lots of people all over Letchworth. It was lovely to meet residents at our various pop-up events held at Standalone Farm, Broadway Cinema, the Grange Academy, the Arcade and Eastcheap.

We also had nearly 500 responses to our Housing Needs Survey and over 1,500 visitors to our interactive online consultation map. In the future, the interactive map will no longer be in use and will not be updated. Instead, you will be able to provide feedback and see the latest updates on this website.

    Consultation plan for 2019

We are now focusing on the largest sites allocated in the emerging North Hertfordshire District Local Plan, namely to the north of the Grange Estate and the east of Talbot Way. Much like the previous conversations with local people, this will be separate to consultation run by the Council on the main modifications to the Local Plan. You can view the council's Local Plan consultation here

We will be holding the following events as part of the second phase of our consultation:
