Service Design update: Talking, Tea and our TIC

If you’ve read my previous blog, you’ll be aware that we’re doing a little bit of research into what users would like to see in a shiny, new local information centre. If you haven’t read it, go on, it’ll only take you a minute or two!

What we’ve been doing

If you’ve passed through the Arcade recently, you’ll have seen that we’ve commandeered unit six. This is our base of operations and we’ve had it open a few times over the last week or so, kettle on, inviting people to pop-in and talk to us about their needs and ideas for a new centre.

We’ve also been hitting the streets in the town centre to ask the same questions and we’ve had some really useful feedback. So thanks to all who stopped, especially during the last few days when it’s been pretty cold!

If you haven’t managed to see us, you can still go in to the Tourist Information Centre itself and speak to our team there about this process and offer your user insights.

What’s next?

In my last blog I mentioned we’d made some assumptions about our users and what their needs are from a local/community information centre. The feedback we’ve gathered from users and visitors will now be contrasted against our assumptions to and give us a true reflection of who uses the centre (TIC) and what their needs are.

We’ll be going through this stage in the next week or so and will give another update on our findings. Until then, thanks for the support and help!
