Yuletide to Nativity – Christmas in Early England: Today, Thursday. Dr Sam Newton will give an illustrated lecture to The Arts Society North Hertfordshire on Christmas in Early England. Young Marx: Today, Thursday. Broadcast live from The Bridge Theatre, London, the production is directed by Nicholas Hytner and reunites the creative team behind Broadway and West End hit comedy One Man, Two Guvnors. An Arts & Crafts Christmas: Today, Thursday, Friday December 8 and Saturday December 9. An exhibition and pop-up shop celebrating the Arts & Crafts heritage of Letchworth. Free children’s craft activities plus a chance to decorate a bauble adding to their Christmas window display. At The Community Museum, 12-14 The Arcade. Open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10am-3pm until December 23.

Face Painting: Saturday, December 9. Including Christmas Glitter Tattoos. In the The Arcade. From 10am – 4pm.

Santa and his Sleigh: Saturday, December 9 and Sunday 10. Letchworth and Baldock Lions will be with Santa and his Sleigh outside Sainsbury’s, Third Avenue between 9am – 5pm on Saturday and 10am – 4pm on Sunday. All monies collected will go to meals on wheels for Christmas, New Year and the food bank.

Christmas Fair: Saturday, December 9. Hertfordshire MS Therapy Centre’s Christmas Fair with stalls, carols, Santa’s Grotto, raffle, children’s activity table and more. Come along for a cup of tea and a mince pie. At MS Therapy Centre, 30 Campus Five. From 2pm to 4pm.

Meet the Magical Snow Lion: Saturday, December 9. From the Forest of Eternal Snow, Letchworth welcomes the Snow Lion to Garden Square Shopping Centre. Show times 11am, 1pm and 3pm. For more details visit www.gardensquareshopping.co.uk.

Family Arts Studio: Sunday, December 10. A free drop-in activity session led by professional artists. Create a Christmas door decoration and cards whilst exploring fonts and lettering using stickers, stamps and collage. At Broadway Studio and Gallery, 2 The Arcade. From 10am - 1pm. The Civic Carol Service: Sunday, December 10. The annual Civic carol service with the Salvation Army Musicians, St Nicholas’ School choir and special guests. At Spirella Ballroom, Bridge Road. Exhibition Club: Sunday, December 10. Love going to Galleries? Join this monthly exhibitions club organised by the Broadway Gallery. Each month they discuss an exhibition they have all been to see. Supermarket Carbon Accounting: Tuesday, December 12. Tesco’s Climate Change Manager will give a talk to Transition Town Letchworth on how the company is working to reduce their carbon footprint. Gordon House – Paint to Print: On now until Sunday, January 28. Gordon House (1932-2004) was an influential artist and graphic designer who was brought up in Letchworth Garden City.
