We are pleased to launch the first phase of our cycling strategy, which we hope will help improve safe and accessible cycling for all of Letchworth’s residents and visitors.
Cycling Strategy Report
We instructed consultancy firm, Steer Davies Gleave to undertake a review of the existing cycle network, current and emerging policy and an analysis of the town’s current cycling provisions. We also asked them to recommend possible enhancements to the cycle infrastructure.
Their report is provided in full and can be accessed below and includes a series of possible improvement schemes.
We'd like to thank those local groups who contributed to the report, including Transition Towns Letchworth and the Letchworth Forty Plus Cycling Club, who put together a detailed report on the existing cycle network and participated in a cycle around the town with representatives from the County Council, Foundation and our consultants.
Now we want to know your thoughts
We would like to know your views on these initial ideas (taken from the main report) and in the table below please can you to tick the possible improvements that you feel to be most valid. You can select as many options as you like.
There is also a box for you to make your own suggestions for improvements and any other comments. You can also email firstname.lastname@example.org with your thoughts or write to us at ‘Cycling Strategy, Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation, Icknield Way, Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire, SG6 1GD’.
We will then collate and publish these comments (excluding any personal information) and we will then review the proposed recommendations to see if they need to be amended. The final strategy will then be published and used as a basis for discussion with the local authorities and other partners to help encourage a programme of implementation.
