Our studio space was transformed into a dedicated space for artists working with new technologies, digital media and film, particularly young emerging artists.  Projectors, theatre lighting and black-out windows were already in place so this meant we could get things off the ground quickly. Film, performance, poetry and installation were all covered during the year in a series of exhibitions that also brought new collaborations with institutions such as Shetland Arts and Goldsmiths University.

2019 also saw the growth of our monthly Meet Critique Group – a support network for artists based in the area. In 12 months, this group has more than doubled in size and has become an important hub for Letchworth creatives to share ideas and opportunities. And our Family Arts Studio events were packed out month after month with children taking part in artist-led workshops.

We ended the year with an exhibition that drew in visitors from around the country and great reviews in the arts press.  Parade - A Celebration of Contemporary Art Textiles, was a colourful, bold exhibition featuring 15 artists from around the world. For this show we extended the exhibition into the town centre using empty shop units to engage passers-by and draw them into the main exhibition.
