Family musical based on Lewis Carroll poem comes to Broadway Theatre

The Hunting of the Snark, a musical based on the classic poem by Alice in Wonderland creator Lewis Carroll, will be performed at the Broadway Theatre on 4 October.

The show, created by the lead producer of hit West End show Priscilla Queen of the Desert, comes to Letchworth following its own recent London run and shows as far afield as Hong Kong.

The Hunting of the Snark is a production fresh from an excellent run in the West End and it’s a great way to kick off our season of family performances at the Broadway,” said Sue Scott Davison, Creative Programmer at the Broadway Theatre.

The show is an ultra-modern adaptation of the original Lewis Carroll poem, and follows a ragtag gang of adventurers as they set off on a quest to catch the mythical Snark. On their journey, they encounter creatures including a Jub Jub Bird, a Bandersnatch and a Boojum, all while not entirely knowing what a Snark looks like!

Suitable for children aged 4+, the show is packed with life-like puppets, fantastical characters and plenty of daft humour to enjoy.

Rina Gill and Garry Mcquinn, producers of The Hunting of the Snark added: “As producers, we are so proud and delighted to be taking The Hunting of the Snark to Broadway Theatre as part of its UK tour. It feels so good to be sharing this magical classic with the next generation.

“The show retains the spirit of Lewis Carroll’s nonsense poem but with a treatment that is very modern and contemporary and fun.  And under all the jokes and fabulous original music, there is a touching story about a father reconnecting with his son.”

Tickets for the show are priced at £14 for adults and £12 for concessions, and are available to purchase either from broadway-letchworth.com or you can call the box office on 01462 681088.
