Theatre company comes home to Letchworth for final tour performance

Two Letchworth producers are bringing the first show of their fledgling theatre company to Broadway Theatre on 4 June, the final performance of their UK tour.

Samantha Lyden and Sally Reichardt, who run Pigtail Productions, both grew up in the area and attended local schools including Lordship, Pixmore and St Christopher. Now they are coming home to Letchworth to present The Tap Dancing Mermaid featuring a mix of hand-crafted puppets and original live music.

Broadway Theatre’s Creative Programmer Sue Scott Davison said: “It’s very rewarding to welcome local talent into our new theatre and we wish Sally and Samantha, seasoned tour promoters, all the very best with their new company. I’m sure the Letchworth audiences will give them a very warm welcome to their home town.”

The show sees Marina Skippett creep out at night to tap dance on the boardwalk to the sounds of the sea. She can’t dance at home anymore since her evil aunty banned it, threatening to feed Marina’s dinners to the dog. But then, one magical night, Marina meets a mysterious, magical boy swimming alone and her life is never the same again.

Written and directed by Tessa Bide and performed by Stephanie De Whalley, this one-woman show is suitable for ages 3+.

Tickets for the performance are priced at £10 each or £36 for a family ticket (max two adults) and are available to purchase from broadway-letchworth.com
