Mick Johal

Nominated Governor (Sporting Activities)

As a lifelong resident of Letchworth Garden City and a firm believer in the ethos of the Heritage Foundation, I want to be able to get more involved in local issues and help make Letchworth an even better place to live.

I have spent the last 25 years working in the pharmaceutical industry for many multinational blue chip companies. I have recently set up a coaching company helping people through the devastation of divorce and breakups.

Locally I have been involved in local sports as a player and vice president of Letchworth Rugby Club where I am still involved.

I wanted to increase participation in rugby, and I founded and set up a children's play business centred around rugby (www.littleruggers.com). This was a huge success we had classes in and around Letchworth and around 300 children were enrolled. This is a huge success.

Then I was approached regarding the set up of a summer rugby league team in Letchworth. With a lot of work and working alongside local sports clubs I started the North Herts Crusaders Rugby League Football Club (www.nhcrusaders.co.uk/l in 2012. In our first year we won the East of England championship and went onto repeat that feat for the next 3 season and today the North Herts Crusaders are going from strength with junior teams and a new Netball section of the club.

I believe that the skills I have acquired from working in the community in sports and my passion for Letchworth as a great place to live make me ;:in ideal candidate for a role as governor. I am hard working with an entrepreneurial spirit, that is totally motivated by improving people's lives. I have great communication and people skills and can communicate well with people from all walks of life.
