Letchworth Festival Grand Finale

As the final weekend of Letchworth Festival approaches, there are still plenty of ways that you can join in. Some, more energetic than others!

Get Fitter

For those seeking to pick up the pace and improve their fitness a little, Saturday kicks off with the Park Run. This is a free, weekly, timed walk/jog/run at 9am every Saturday, open to all ages and abilities.

If you've wondered whether this is for you, this could be the weekend to find out.

Festival ...

Then it's eyes down for the two big days of the Festival: a packed weekend of fantastic entertainment, fashion, classic and vintage car display, including vintage stalls in the Town Centre as well as Armed Forces Day, organised by the British Legion, and taking place on Saturday in Broadway Gardens

...and Film

It's also a great weekend for film: on Saturday evening, for lovers of musicals, the Broadway is showing 70s classic the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

And on Sunday, the bill takes a turn for the local with Irene's Ghost, a documentary from local director Iain Cunningham, about his quest to understand what became of the mother he lost.

The Main Event

The weekend's main event, however, is once again Park Live. Letchworth's annual music festival takes over the whole of Howard Park, with music, entertainment, food, beer, stalls, activities and fun for all the family.

On the programme this year are Jazzworks, Garden City Samba, the Hertfordshire Big Band, City Chorus as well as performances from Highfield and St Christopher's schools.

Additional entertainment includes a circus skills workshop, facepainting, a backsword tournament, bouncy castle, vintage fun fair and last but by no means least, the Art Competition prize giving

And if you want to make a day of it, there are hot food stalls, refreshments, ice cream and bar facilities put on by Crafty's and La Concha.

Sunday's big day out starts at noon...and carries on non-stop until 6 pm.

See you there!
