Garden City Greenway

The Garden City Greenway is a 13.6 mile (21.8km) route around Letchworth suitable for walkers, runners, cyclists and more to enjoy. The route also covers a number of local wildlife and nature spots for people to enjoy while on the route.

We maintain the Garden City Greenway. Our main actions on the Greenway are:

  • Cutting and pruning of trees, hedges and coppices around the Greenway,
  • Planting and renewing of hedges and trees,
  • Maintaining the Greenway route,
  • Maintain the benches, furniture and signage around the Greenway

Greenway FAQs

Where can I park my car? 
There are four car parks located around the Garden City Greenway. These are situated at Radwell Meadows* (off Nortonbury Lane), Manor Wood, Wymondley Wood (off Wymondley Road), and at Standalone Farm.

*Please be aware that Radwell Meadows car park is only open from 8am to 9pm between 31 March and 31 October and 8am to 8pm between 1 November and 30 March.

Is the route accessible for wheelchair users? 
Various stretches of the Garden City Greenway is suitable for wheelchairs. These sections are represented by red or light purple on the Greenway map.

Can I cycle around the Greenway? 
The majority of the Garden City Greenway is suitable for cyclists. Please refer to the map for further details.

Are there any picnic areas or places on the route where I can stop to consume refreshments? 
There are picnic areas situated at Radwell Meadows and Manor Wood. 

If you are looking for something more substantial there are a number of pubs within a short distance of the route. Please refer to the Greenway map for locations.

Can I use the route for a charity walk? 
Yes, the MS Trust and Letchworth Garden City Rotary Club have previously used the Garden City Greenway for fundraising walks and cycle rides. The Greenway provides an interesting route for walkers, and a number of open spaces for organisers and refreshments.
