Beloved children's author Michael Morpurgo live on stage at Broadway Theatre

Much-loved children’s author Michael Morpurgo will perform live on stage at Letchworth’s Broadway Theatre on 7 May as part of the concert performance of his book The Mozart Question, followed by a meet and greet after the show.

Narrated by actor Alison Reid alongside Morpurgo, who also wrote War Horse, the show tells a haunting tale of friendship, family and survival against the odds, interweaving words and music from some of classical music’s best known names, from Mozart and Beethoven to Bach and Vivaldi.Sue Scott Davison, Creative Programmer for the Broadway Theatre said: “Being able to bring such a respected author as Michael Morpurgo to Letchworth is quite a coup for us.

The show is a real treat for the whole family, and we’re really excited to see this excellent book come to life on stage. As an added treat for fans, Michael will be around afterwards to say hello and chat more about his work.”The show follows the story of Paulo Levi, a world-famous performer who developed his passion for music as a young child with the help of his teacher, Benjamin. Alongside this story, is that of his parents who were musicians too - Jewish prisoners who survived by playing music in a concentration camp during the Second World War.

Treated with utmost sensitivity for a family audience, this special performance of the story is directed by Simon Reade.Suitable for children from ages 8+, tickets for the Mozart Question cost £16 for adults and £13 for concessions.
